Realistic dreams

Sometimes some dreams are so darn convincing and real that you really feel relieved when you wake up and realise that is it a dream. I had one such scary recurring dream yesternite. It was a dream that I always have since I was young. It is about....me dropping/losing my tooth/teeth!!

I remember in one dream, I dropped my front tooth while I was brushing my tooth. And in yesterday's one, it was due to a hole in my gum, which first lead to the weakening of my three upper back teeth. I can distinctly remember that it was dangling very loosely and all I have to do was to slightly pull at it and they dropped out nicely into my palms. But what was scary was while I was rushing around madly, calling up dentists at NTUC Denticare to arrange for appointments blah blah...i suddenly felt that my lower three teeth were also dangling loosely! In fact, they gave me the shakey feeling when my tongue was pushing against it....

It was then that I woke up in a scarely awake manner and realise it wasn't true. But all the details were so vivid and realistic, to the extent that I really thought it was all happening to me!

This recurring nitemare, though varying in the scenario and details, are basically the same in principle. This scared me and as usual, I hurriedly went to search for the hidden meaning behind this dream...

"My Teeth Are Falling"

  1. Dreams about your teeth reflect your anxiety about your appearance and how others perceive you. Teeth are an important feature of our attractiveness and presentation to others. Everybody worries about how they appear to others. Caring about our appearance is natural and healthy. (Yah, I am pretty conscious of my appearance...all people are ai4 mei3 one mah!)
  2. Falling teeth dream may be rooted in your fear of being embarrassed or making a fool of yourself in some specific situation. These dreams are an over-exaggeration of your worries and anxiety. (I easily blush in almost all situations...and indeed I don't like to embarrass myself)
  3. Teeth are used to bite, tear, chew and gnaw. In this regard, teeth represent power. And the loss of teeth in your dream may be from a sense of powerlessness. Are you lacking power in some current situation? Perhaps you are having difficulties expressing yourself or getting your point across. You feel frustrated when your voice is not being heard. You may be experiencing feelings of inferiority and a lack of self-confidence in some situation or relationship in your life. This dream is an indication that you need to be more assertive and believe in the value of your own opinion. (True...I think I am making no sense or progress in my research...)
  4. In the latest research, it has been shown that women in menopause have frequent dreams about teeth. This may be related to getting older and/or feeling unattractive and less feminine. (Ok, i think I am definitely too young to be suffering from menopause rite?)
  5. In the Greek culture, when you dream about loose, rotten, or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very sick or even near death. (Choi!! Touchwood!! Lucky I am not a greek.)
  6. According to the Chinese, there is a saying that your teeth will fall out if your are telling lies. It has also been said that if you dream of your teeth falling out, then it symbolizes money. (Yeah...I lie indeed...although I try not to. So does it mean that I will be very rich soon too?! Yeah!!)

Hmm.....

No wonder you are always blushing in front of a certain someone.

Still it could be a sub-conscious call for you to visit the dentist especially after HLMilk's incident.
