One of my students is going to leave Singapore for good. Back to Indonesia and then to US. I was helping out at his house yesterday, clearing his stuff and picking up those textbooks that I need. At the end of it, his mum suddenly looked at me in gratitude and told m," Thank you so much for your help.". Then he looked at my student and said," Vin, hurry up and say thank you to Peiying ??, thank her for her help over these 4 years."
There was a moment of silence. I was so awkward with this suddenly mushiness that I don't even know what to do. I laughed it off and said that there's no need for a thank you. Teenager at his age would be too embarassed to do such a thing. As long as I know he appreciates it will be enough. And darn...upon hearing what I said, my student actually started thanking me! Hey...if I weren't stoic and heartless enough, I would have been so touched and burst into tears!
I hate partings. There are bound to be tears in farewell. Emotional attachments are nothing but burdens. If only I am free of such burdens.

Help
Define help.
Helping people is to assist them willingly in certain activities. This is so as to catalyze their achievement of a certain objective.
So which are the key words here?
"Assist", "Willingly", "Catalyze" and "Achievement of objective"
And to me, the most important one is "willingly".
If you say "Ok, i'll help you." to person A and the next moment you complain to person B about helping person A, then for goodness sake, you are not helping person A! Just say out what is in your mind! You are not willing to help!
1 is 1, 2 is 2.
Don't complicate things. I hate complications.
P/S: i am not trying to insulate anything. Just a general thought.

Another dream
Gosh...to think that I always sleep to the next morning like a dead pig. Now, such blessing doesn't seem to occur to me anymore. For 2 consecutive days, I had been dreaming of myself as a witness to car accidents. Witnessing my own death isn't fun. Not that this is the first time I had dreamt of car accidents. But for 2 times in a row and the details are so vivid that I think I should spare you all with the details. As a hint of how scary those dreams were, words like "meshed up", "bloody", "a series of cars hitting one after the other" will have to be used. I think there's something seriously wrong here...not that I know what's going wrong. At least I know it is affecting how rejuvenated I am in the next morning. Sigh...
Curiosity got the better of me, and such occasions definitely call for the need to surf the Dreams Dictionary. So here goes:
1) To dream that you are in an accident, signifies pent up guilt and you are sub-consciously punishing yourself over it. (OK..then I think I am feeling very guilty about something based on serious the car accident I am involved in is ...but what???)
2) Accident dreams may also represent your straightforward fears of being an actual, physical accident. You may be simply nervous about getting behind the wheel. This dream may be a clear warning to cautious of approaching vehicles (Duh...who's not scared of being involved in one?)
3) To dream of a car accident, symbolizes your emotional state. You may be harboring deep anxieties and fears. Are you "driving" yourself too hard? This dream may tell you to slow down before you hit disaster. You need to rethink or re-plan your course of actions and set yourself on a better path. (Perhaps I can use this as an excuse to give myself a holiday? Hmmm....)
Sigh....

My brother's moving out
A series of holidays didn't make me happy. I found it hard to define what happiness is...is a true definition of happiness so important? If not, why is it so difficult to experience happiness? Whatever...
Anyway, my brother's moving out...he's starting to move out his things and furniture already. Something I had been looking forward to but when it really did happen, I felt as if I had lost something of my life. I guess this is growing up. My father used to say that we should cherish the sibling relationship that we have in our childhood days, for there will be a day when we will establish our own families or get busy with our own lives, and never contact each other as frequently as before.
A day without contact will turn to become a year without contact and soon it becomes a habit. When we finally contact, awkwardness will fill the air. Whatever is lost shall never be replaced.
